Make up is an essential part of the daily routine for most women- but how many of us really know how to apply it with confidence? Female First got some top tips from professional make up artist Donna Marie Griffey.
"We all have our own way of doing our make-up, but this is the correct way to apply it", say Donna, "You should see a good result."
1. Cleanse, tone, blot and moisturise. Leave skin alone for 2-3 minutes.
2. Colour corrector (if you have red or yellowy patches, use colour corrector).
3. Foundation - apply with a sponge or brush. Blend well.
4. Concealer - apply under eyes & where needed - dab on with fingertip and blend.
5. Highlighter - use in dark areas or creases on the face to 'lift out'
6. Face powder - to set makeup. Apply with puff or brush. It must match skin colour.
7. Eye colours - light to dark, and blend in well.
8. Eye liner - apply along lash line.
9. Mascara - wiggle the brush to lengthen and de-clump lashes.
10. Lip liner - to line and fill in lips.
11. Lip colour, gloss or balm. Apply with Lip Brush.
12. Blusher – on apples of cheeks - should match lip colour. Optional – apply Shader in the hollows of your cheeks if your face is rounder – this creates a slender face effect.
13. Shimmer or highlighter powder if required, on cheekbones.
You’re Done!
Tip - if you smudge anything like your mascara or eyeliner, wait until its dry, then use a cotton bud / q-tip to lift it off. Smudge gone!
