There’s nothing worse than buying a new piece of make-up going out for the day and finding it’s escaped your bag at some point, in face replacing lost make-up costs almost £18,000 in a lifetime.
New research has revealed that on average, British women spend £248 a year replacing the beauty products they’ve lost.
Over 80% of the UK female population admit to having lost makeup and 40% admit to losing at least one item a month.
“When we lose our make-up bag it’s not just the products we’ve lost, it’s that we have lost something very person,” says a spokesperson from feelunique.com, who conducted the research.
“Most things in our bag are of course a nuisance to lose but a makeup bag has emotion attached to it. The contents of a makeup bag are built over time; the products have to be good to be in there.”
Quite astoundingly, one in three ladies will spend almost £18,000 replacing lost makeup in their lifetimes. More than a deposit on a house.
The repercussions of lost cosmetics go much further than the cost though, as the study found that 70% of ladies have either cancelled a date, or a business meeting due to a lost lippy or a mislaid mascara. One in five said they have even called the police.
Now, surely that’s taken it a bit far, isn’t it?
