Well, it is according to Stefano Gabbana anyways, as he believes that a woman applying her lipstick is one of the most seductive moments in their lives.
It comes as no surprise then that he, along with his designer partner Domenico Dolce, have signed up pouting sensation Scarlett Johansson to front their new make-up line.
They will launch their new line later this month, and have given us a fascinating insight into their creative process, with lippy being at the very forefront of their range.
Speaking to Style magazine, Gabbana said: "It's the most seductive moment, and it's just for women." Well, we're not entirely convinced about that statement, as clearly he has forgotten about Drag Queens, who liberally apply the stuff night after night.
But for the purpose of this article, let's put that little grumble aside and focus on what the designer is saying, does he have a point? Are our lips the most seductive weapon in our arsenal?
It used to be our eyes, but it's true that our lips have been gaining more coverage recently, with new product launches nearly every week championing the next stage in cosmetic developments for our pout.
Applying lipstick the right way can be quite a hard thing to master, so we get where D&G are coming from with them proclaiming it an intimate experience.
You have your mouth half open, you're applying the lipstick to every curve and line of your lip and you're doing it all at super slow speed, so as not to make any mistakes.
This sort of intimate message is what Dolce & Gabbana hope to convey with their new cosmetics range, and with Scarlett at the forefront we're sure they will succeed.
She's a great choice to front a cosmetics line, as she exudes a kind of old world glamour that Dolce & Gabbana do so well with their clothing lines, and it is arguably a fashion match made in heaven.
Their pillar box red lipstick, complete with nostalgic scent is set to become something of a classic, before it's even released and that's down to the designers themselves and their philosophy.
Gabbana comments,"I remember my mother always had this smell. Everything we do- fashion, make-up, fragrance- newness makes up about 80%, but 20% needs to have something familiar."
