Backstage at a fashion show is a crazy time, there are people running around trying to get everything perfect before the show starts, of course not on time.
I was invited backstage for the Huishan Zhang presentation by the lovely Max Factor ladies, as they would be creating the beauty look for the show.
Mel Arter, Max Factor make-up artist created the beauty look and we spoke to her backstage.
"Huishan’s inspiration is that of Man Ray and the double exposed female form, so the look this season isn’t really trend-led, it’s just beautifully timeless and really delicate and really wearable.
"But we did take the 30s theme which is running through the show and we just done a really modern 30’s eyeliner which instead of taking it out or up of the eye, we’ve taken it completely down.
"It’s really glamorous, but quite different."
Referencing 19030s contempories including Man Ray and Couture designer Madeleine Vionnet, Mel went on to create a fresh and radiant look on the models.
"It’s delicate, really pretty and really girly. It’s quite sophisticated too."
We of course had to ask her application tips for the brand new foundation from Max Factor which she used at the show. Whipped cream is the latest release from the make-up brand and creates a demi-matte finish.
"Everyone is really different with the application, I like to use and apply it like a moisturiser, it’s really easy to use. I prefer to use it with the finger tips to really blend it well, it’s a really nice finish. You don’t need a lot, a little bit goes a long way with this product. It’s really hydrating too, so you’ve got that added moisture you need, especially during the colder months. It’s different to all of the other ones of the market, I think personally."
