Get model perfect skin like the ladies at Huishan Zhang AW14

With London Fashion Week starting tomorrow it is only a matter of time before pictures of Cara and co dominate headlines with their picture perfect skin. But whether you’re walking the catwalk or down the high street, creating this season’s ‘barely-there foundation-free’ look requires great skin, and great skin starts with a great skincare routine.

Jan Marini has teamed up with make-up artist Tania Grier who has worked with models and celebrities, including Abbey Clancy, Suki Waterhouse, Laura Bailey and Daisy Lowe to bring you inside tips on achieving model perfect skin at home.

Interview with Tania Grier

“Luminous, clear skin is an essential base for any make-up look so I always tell my clients to invest in an appropriate skincare routine. You don’t need to over complicate things, just find a couple of staple products which cleanse and protect the skin,” says Tania.

“When working with models on shoots or catwalks I always start by doing a deep cleanse. With as many as three shows per day during Fashion Week, the make-up gets quickly scrubbed off for the next show and applied again and again. I always suggest using a product which exfoliates, reducing the build up of dead skin cells, which can leave the skin looking dull and prone to outbreaks.

I love Jan Marini’s Bioglycolic Cleanser as the glycolic acid based formula gently removes debris which can clog the pores whilst also resurfacing the skin without being abrasive which is very important. The naturally hydrating berry extract in the cleanser also leaves skin feeling smooth - a must have for make-up artists, models and women wanting to achieve noticeable results at home.”

“As well as cleansing, it is important to protect the skin. Sun damage is the main cause of skin ageing and it takes time and a lot of layers to conceal the signs of UV damage which is why I always preach prevention. When on location outside I use Jan Marini’s Physical Protectant (RRP: £50) because it protects the skin from the sun, controls oil production (bonus if it’s humid!) and acts like a primer, creating a velvety smooth base for long lasting make-up. With the ‘barely-there’ matte complexion back on trend for SS/15 this product will be in my make-up bag this autumn.”
