Get naturally glowing skin with this advice

This season one of the biggest beauty trends is natural, glowing skin. But this is something you can't really fake with products - the foundation to this look is a good skincare routine.

Dr Rabia Malik and Dr Preema Vig, who spoke to the Anti-Ageing Health and Beauty show magazine, which was held at the London Olympia this weekend, share there expert tips and advice on how to brighten dull skin and ensure you're revelling in this season's luminous skin beauty look.

How can you reclaim a luminous brighter complexion?

Dr Rabia Malik: Begin with some gentle exfoliation as this will ensure removal of surface debris from the skin. Following exfoliation, increase your skin's level of hyaluronic aid to achieve a more luminous, brighter complexion. This can be achieved with topicals that contain high levels of molecular weight hyaluronic acid. Try using homecare products that contain peptides too as these help to achieve a brighter complexion.

What are the best exfoliation methods for different skin types?

Dr Rabia Malik: Normal skin responds well to a light chemical exfoliation in the way of a mild alpha hydroxy acid chemical peels or enzyme based masks.

Oily skin responds well to enzyme based masks as well as mechanical exfoliation with a sonic cleansing device.

Dry or sensitive skin responds best to lactic acid based chemical peels which if formulated correctly are gentle and non-irritating.

What are key skin brightening ingredients to look for when selecting products?

Dr Preema Vig: Hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, vitamin A to increase the skin cell cycle which brings new skin cells to the surface, vitamin C to lighten, brighten and tighten the skin, fruit acids at night to exfoliate the top layer of skin, antioxidants to fight free radicals which can damage the DNA of skin cells and SPF for sun protection.

Which treatment would help with skin brightening?

Dr Preema Vig: IPL laser treatments would help in skin rejuvenation as well as evening out skin tone by reducing pigmentation.
