Get your skin glowing with these detox beauty tips

Celebrities always manage to look their best, whether on the red carpet or running to the shops, so here's how to beauty detox like a celeb and get your skin looking its best.

We've got tips from Miranda Kerr, Jennifer Lawrence and Anna Friel to name a few to ensure you're looking your best.

A dry(-brushing) January

Boost circulation and flush out toxins with Elle MacPherson’s top tip – body brushing!

“My three beauty secrets are: exfoliation, exfoliation, exfoliation-increasing circulation ridding the body of dead skin cells, nourishing, renewing. My Rotating Dry Brush uses natural bristles from the Agave plant native to Mexico so it’s firm but gentle on the skin and I use it top to toe every day without fail, moisturise and then drink 3 litres of water to hydrate from the inside.”

Elle Macpherson’s Rotating Dry Brush (RRP £39.99, Boots) boosts circulation and helps flush out toxins whilst exfoliating skin, leaving it glowing and soft to the touch. The perfect palm design offers ultimate control for body-brushing. The 100% natural bristles are suitable for sensitive skin and prevent skin irritation.

Go green

To detox her health and beauty regime, Miranda Kerr’s secret is a little greener than your average “To keep my skin in check I always eat lots of greens and take Chlorella supplements and drink plenty of water”

Sun Chlorella (£21.95 for 300 tablets, sunchlorella.co.uk) is an ancient Japanese wholefood. It’s an entirely natural and balanced, single-celled, green algae, which, due to combination of nutrients and amino acid abundance, is linked to healthy nails, skin and hair.

Blitz Blemishes

Kimberley Wyatt’s top tip for tackling spots: “Treat blemishes with tea tree – it’s brilliant. Dab on Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil with a clean finger or cotton bud a few times a day, then leave it to heal overnight.”

Australian Bodycare Tea-Tree Oil (£5.99, 10ml from Australianbodycare.com), is a specific strand of Tea-Tree Oil from the Melaleuca Alternifolia Tree, which contains an exact combination of natural elements that are skin friendly. Tea-Tree Oil is a natural, anti-septic, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal essential oil that eliminates bacteria and germs without damaging healthy skin tissue.

Rejuvenate

Made In Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh recommends: “The Manuka Doctor Rejuvenating Face Mask is my January fail safe beauty fix for when my skins dehydrated. I also swear by having regular facials.”

Manuka Doctor Rejuvenating Face Mask  (£49.99, 50ml from Superdrug.com)

This deep penetrating skin renewal treatment contains a unique combination of Purified Bee Venom, moisturising UMF 18+ Manuka Honey, Avocado Oil and Vitamin E. Its unique formulation  deeply nourishes the skin, stimulating collagen growth and renewing damaged skin cells, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Go natural

Lucy Watson keeps her skin clear, by going natural: “I like to use natural products on my face as I don’t want to upset the skins natural balance, that’s why I think Witch is great.”

Witch Blemish Stick (£3.16, Boots and Superdrug) is a naturally medicated skincare staple and the ultimate in blemish control. It helps break down excess oils and fight the bacteria that cause spots, stopping blemishes in their tracks. The key ingredient, Witch Hazel, helps soothe skin for a healthy, flawless complexion.

Exfoliate

Anna Friel always scrubs up well and recommends: “Really good exfoliant – The Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant is amazing! I also believe in doing a dry brush exfoliation once a week to get all the toxins out - as much as we put into our skin and onto our skin you want to get out, to get rid of all the toxins.”

Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant (£21.50, 75ml from trilogyproducts.com) gently polishes the complexion, refining its texture and smoothing without irritation.  In a nutrient-rich base of sweet almond, evening primrose and certified organic rosehip oil, active honey enzymes and camellia oil work to lift dead skin cells, while non-abrasive jojoba wax micro-spheres gently buff away surface debris.  Conditioning botanical extracts of macadamia nut and calendula soften and soothe for a radiant post-exfoliation glow.

Beat the bloat

Jennifer Lawrence’s friend and personal trainer, Dalton Wong, spilled the beans on a fail-safe technique to reducing bloating: ‘I gave Jenifer some Epsom salts to bathe in which really helps to get rid of any bloating in the body (...), it’s a great trick that anyone can use.’

Care Epsom Salts (£2.89 from pharmacies nationwide) are a pure mineral compound composed of magnesium and sulfate which has long been known as a natural remedy for many health conditions. Many people know Epsom salts as a pharmacy product rather than a beauty product. They have a laxative effect when ingested, but they can also be added to a bath.

Slimming secret

Natalie Cassidy has a little help from nature to stay slim: “In my pursuit to drop a dress size, I discovered a natural supplement called Thisilyn Artichoke, which has been shown to help beat the bloat, alongside a balanced diet and regular exercise.

Thisilyn Artichoke (£7.99 for 30 capsules) contains Cynarin, extracted from the leaves at the blade of the globe artichoke plant, which contains the highest concentration of the active constituents.
