High heels could improve our sex lives according to a new study- and it's not just for those with a stiletto fetish.
Wearing heels can improve the pelvic floor musles and boost the quality of sex for both parties according to the new research.
An Italian urologist Dr Maria Cerruto, who happened to love high shoes, set out to prove that heels are not as bad for women's health as it is believed.
She claims that her study shows 66 women under 50 found that those who held their foot at a 15 degree angle to the ground - the equivalent of a two inch heel - had as good posture as those who wore flat shoes, and crucially showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles.
This means that the muscles were at a prime position tol improve their strength and ability to contract.
The pelvic floor muscles are an essential component of the female body but they can weaken after pregnancy and as a woman gets older.
As well as assisting sexual performance and increasing satisfaction for both men and women, they provide vital support to the pelvic organs, which include the bladder, bowels and uterus.
Women are often encouraged to do pelvic floor exercises to prevent them from weakening but Dr Cerruto hopes her findings may make this easier.
"Women often have difficulty in carrying out the right exercises for the pelvic zone and wearing heels could be the solution," she said to the bbc.
"Like many women, I like high-heeled shoes," she added. "It's good to know they have potential health benefits."
