Holiday season is our favourite time of year and we can't wait to get a bit of sun to banish those winter blues. However all that sun, sea and sand can be a nightmare for your hair so Female First got some tips from celebrity hairdresser Richard Ward.....
How can we look after our hair on holiday?
It's very important to try and have your colour done when you come back from your holiday rather than just before you go. This is because the sun lifts your colour and the chlorine and the sea can do all sorts of damage to your hair so your better off to have th colour done when you come back.
And also you must take some very good sun haircare products. The Keratase stuff is absolutely fantastic but anything that's going to strip chlorine out and put moisture back into your hair is a good thing. You must look after your hair while your away.
What styles work best on holiday?
I think if you've got a bit of a wave in your hair then that's probably the best thing. It's so fashioable at the minute to have this slightly 80s sort of beach hippy look. So you can scruch your hair a stick it up in a pony tail and just wear it very naturally.
Nobody wants to bother with their hair too much when they're on holiday so anything with a slight curl to it makes for a really good look this summer.
What do you think will be a top hair trend this summer?
Accessorising is also really big this summer. Using little slides, clips and haribands. There are lots of cute diamante clips out there at the minute- very sweet girly things.
Which celebs are having the biggest impact of hair fashion at the moment?
Certainly Agyness Deyn on the short cut. Every now and then a celebrity comes along that has something that catches everyone's eye and she has. Going back we had Victoria Beckham when she had the POB and Jennifer Aniston when her style was popular- there's always someone. Kate Middleton, who is one of my clients, is having a big impact too. A lot of women love the long hair look.
