Sarah Jessica Parker is reportedly a fan of this new diet craze

Sarah Jessica Parker, Teri Hatcher and Sharon Stone are all reportedly fans of a new diet craze, which suggests eating fatty foods can actually stimulate weight loss.

Too good to be true do we think? well it's all part of New York nutritionist Esther Blum’s plan to eat fat and have fun, while still managing to miraculously loose weight.

Is this just a newer, glorified version of the Atkins, only more so because it promotes eating all fats, including saturated ones?

Well, Blum comes from the angle that nothing should be off limits and eating everything in moderation is in fact good for you.

She has taken America by storm with this new way of thinking, and now her book; Blum’s Secrets of Gorgeous: Hundreds of Ways to Live Well While Living It Up, is heading for Britain.

It's described as a ‘diet book for real people’ according to Marie Claire, and is also proving popular with the American Dietetic Association.

Blum insists that the best way to start your day should be with a vegetable omelette, using shock horror, the yolks and a decent portion of strawberries.

She thinks that fat-free foods in general can make you put on weight, because when they enter your body they are registered as a carbohydrate, and full-fat food is in fact better for you as it can metabolise cholesterol.

If this is so far sounding like your idea of heaven, prepared to be blown away because you can actually drink alcohol while on this diet, and what's more you can drink straight alcohol, forget the mixers and just sip the spirits.

In theory we suppose this could work in the short term, because she does encourage detoxing on carrots and beetroot too, and eating salmon three times a week as well.

Considering the many crazy diets that have surfaced over the years (cabbage and maple syrup anyone?) this one seems to have at least some sense behind it, and it already has a celeb following, so you know this is one to watch for 2009.
