Shu Uemura's Fake Eyelash Range

Lace, feathers and sequins are the new buzz words in beauty at the moment, and what's more they are all referring to the must-have look of the moment; fake eyelashes.

Lash extensions are big business around this time of year, as we all go overboard on booking our beauty appointments in a bid to top last year's look at the office Christmas party.

Now, while last year we may well of settled for some plain fun and flirty lashes, but this year is all about experimenting with your look and embracing the looks shown on the catwalk this season; the more outlandish the better.

If you are going to make your eyes the focal point of your look, then it's important to keep the rest of your make-up simple. We suggest keeping your lips either pale pink or nude and glam up your eyes to the max with plenty of eyeliner and eye shadow.

Of course it all depends on what style and colour your fake eyelashes will be, as this will have an impact on the rest of your look. If you want to still make an impression but not go over-the-top then opt for soft lace lashes, or some diamonte bottom lashes, which will just give you that added bit of sparkle.

The lace option may seem crazy, but they'll look great when teamed with some soft grey eye shadow and a thick stroke of black eyeliner, to line the top lid of your eye and offset the half circle of lace.

If you want to inject some colour into your look then why not experiment with some funky electric blue or bright green offerings out there. They are best worn when teamed with say, a plain black dress as they will really make your eyes stand out.

Lastly if you want to have that extreme glamour look, then go for full-on feathers. Trust us there is no better way to make an impact than to have outlandish feathers stuck on your eyes, and despite the drag queen association with these crazy eyelashes, they actually look stunning.

As with most things, the key is to keep your outfit either pretty plain, or to colour co-ordinate them with each other. For example mix different eyelash colours for your top and bottom lids, while bearing in mind the colour of your party dress and shoes.

It's a smart lady who knows how to make the colour clash work well in her outfit choices and in her eyelash accessories.
