Dry skin can be uncomfortable and make you feel self-conscious about yourself. However there are ways to deal with it to avoid dry-looking skin.
Avoid long, hot showers – We all love a long, hot shower but by doing so, the hot water can strip away your natural oils much faster than warm water, drying out your skin. If you limit yourself to a 5 – 10 warm shower a day, you skin will thank you for it and is unlikely to dry out so fast.
Use a gentle cleanser or shower gel with moisturiser –Soap-free cleanser will not irritate you face so much, meaning that you skin will look smoother and become less itchy.
Moisturise skin when skin is still moist – If you moisturise your face whilst it is still damp, it will lock in moisture and will stop your face drying up.
Drink plenty of water – We are recommended to drink 2 litres of water a day but many people often don’t. Drinking plenty of water will ensure your body can produce the minerals it needs to function properly.
Eat omega-3 foods – Eating cold-water fish such as salmon and sardines or eating flax and walnuts, to name a few will help maintain the body’s natural oils. The body needs food rich in omega-3 to produce natural oil and minerals to keep your body looking fresh and healthy.
Exfoliate – Dry skin can produce dead skin cells so it is important to exfoliate weekly to get rid of these cells so your body can produce new ones.
