Cindy Crawford looks as beautiful today as she did in the ninties, she's definitely aged gracefully, but the supermodel admits there was no secret to it.
Speaking to Violet Grey she said: "The secret is that there is no secret. Do all the stuff we know: Don't smoke, get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, find what makes you happy."
At least the secret can't be found in a face cream we can't afford.
The 48 year old says that it takes time to see the effort that you put into your skin though, explaining:
"…Results are cumulative. When a 35 year-old starts taking care of her skin, she won't look different. It's when you're my age that you start seeing the payoff."
But she does wish someone has warned her about premature hair ageing.
She said: "No one tells you about your hair! You don't expect the texture to change and that it will break more easily. I'm definitely kinder to it now. I don't wash and dry it every day.
"I try to make a blow-dry last. If I work out, I'll pin it up in a top knot so I don't get dents in it. I'll sleep with it pinned up."
However, the brunette beauty confessed she is still a fan of masks which help bring her hair back to life but chooses quick-fix formulas which allow her to spend less time "naked in the shower".
She said: "There's a Jasmine hair mask from Lush that I love. You put it on before you wash your hair, before you get in the shower. With regular masks they say to wash your hair and then leave it on for 10 minutes.
"What am I doing waiting naked in the shower with a 10-minute hair mask on? It doesn't make any sense."
And when it comes to her diet, she likes to make sensible choices: "Remember back in the '90s when people thought that a big bowl of pasta was a low-calorie option? Those were the days! Today, eating that is like eating a sundae.
SUPERMODEL HAIR BY FRENCH HAIR LEGEND SERGE NORMANT
How did Serge Normant create Cindy's lush style? He tells VIOLET GREY it takes just four easy steps in
- Prep & Dry: To begin, apply Serge Normant Meta Lush Volumizer to damp locks, concentrating on the roots, and blow-dry strands smooth with a medium-sized round brush. The goal is to dry hair while creating bend at the ends and lift at the crown.
- Add texture & lift: To further amplify the roots and create extra fullness, grip, and texture, spray Normant's Meta Revive Dry Shampoo onto partings all over the head.
- Curl & Pin: Create pin curls in a few deceptively simple steps. Wrap hair around a 1 or 1.25-inch iron, hold until hot slide the iron out without unraveling the hair, and pin the intact curl to the scalp to cool.
- Brush & Smooth: Once hair is completely cool, release the pins and gently brush through the curls with a natural bristle brush (Violet says try Y.S. Park's Tortoise Wood Air Vent Cushion Flat Eco Styler Hair Brush.) For a soft finish that's touchable, avoid hairspray. Instead, run a few drops of Normant's Meta Sheer Finishing Oil through locks to finish the look.
