Celebrities have inspired a rainbow hair trend as ‘Crayola-colour’ hair dye tops the beauty charts, according to new figures.
eBay has seen an astonishing rise in the sales of pastel and vibrant coloured hair dye thanks to the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry and Kelly Osbourne adopting the technicolour trend.
As Britain’s style seekers are jumping on the beauty bandwagon, bubblegum pink (+268%) and lilac (+320%) are the new shades of choice; proving the candyfloss bright trend is here to stay.
Rock royalty turned fashion icon Kelly Osbourne was the original paint box pioneer back in 2012, debuting soft lavender locks. Her ‘do was given an ultra violet update in 2014 and has since sparked an array of colour-seeking devotees; with pal Nicole Richie recently flaunting purple hair.
Not just a style for ‘twen-teens’, national treasure Dame Helen Mirren took inspiration from ‘Grease’s’ Frenchie - elegantly clashing a pink bob with the red carpet in January, last year.
Those desiring to make the ultimate statement are opting to go bolder and brighter for a fresh take on the pastel palette. Rihanna’s ‘pretty in pink’ candy coloured wig (courtside at an LA Clippers game) and Sheridan Smith’s amethyst tresses (at the Television BAFTAS) are all new ‘hairspirations’ for the summer sunshine.
Sales of emerald (+109%) and sapphire hair dye (+225%) have also soared, as Kylie Jenner and hair-chameleon Katy Perry, rocked jewel-inspired hues.
