Shockingly three quarters of British women say they feel self-conscious when stripping down to a swimsuit for the first time on their summer holiday,
Despite spending an average of £49 to prepare for the ordeal, many women suffer from a fear that they won't measure up to their body image expectations according to a new survey by Total Greek yoghurt.
Given this air of mass anxiety it is no surprise that 3 in every 5 women said losing a bit of weight would make them feel more confident when they hit the beach.
It's not just women who are feeling this way; the survey also found that over 40% of men were self-conscious when stripping down on the sand and one quarter felt outright uncomfortable.
Lounging on the beach should be the one time of year when people should be able to relax but almost 1 in 3 respondents said they are embarrassed by their figure
As over half the population has been on a diet only to gain the weight back, there must be a better way to deal with the impending fear of revealing all by the pool.
