Amethyst Skin backstage at Erdem for A/W '12
When models stormed the runway for the Erdem A/W 12 show, this week at London Fashion Week, it wasn't just the beautiful clothes and lustworthy ankle boots that we wanted, a subtle tan gave their skin just the right amount of sheen.
For the sixth consecutive season, St.Tropez is working once again with one of the most talked-about designers on the London Fashion Week schedule, Erdem – a testament to just how important skin is to the designer’s finished look.
With a strong collaborative rapport, St.Tropez has been able to revisit using the Violet Skin Illuminator that was created especially for his show in season’s past. This creative relationship is something that has always been important to Erdem:
“The couture-inspired structure and controlled silhouettes require the same attention to detail on the body, which is why I consider St. Tropez to be an essential part of my backstage team”
St.Tropez Skin Finishing Expert, Nichola Joss, was backstage at the show, bathing models limbs in the Violet Skin Illuminator and Body Butter. The result was a modern amethyst hue to complement the collection that showcased tweed-out-of-lace in a rich palette of navy, red and pink:
“There is an undercurrent of amethyst that runs through the clothes, so we are drenching skin in this combination of Violet Skin Illuminator and Body Butter - we want the light to reflect at every angle, so that the skin comes alive.”
The venue also played a big part in Nichola’s decision for the products today as the uncompromising strip-lighting in Bermondsey’s White Cube Gallery shows up every element of the skin.
“It is a really stark location, but we liked the fact that the skin also looked angular and structured, the lighting almost mimics the harsh winter light.”
Make-up artist Andrew Gallimore also chose a purist approach to beauty to give a “robotic almost androgynous” feel. Simultaneously, Charles Worthington’s Creative Manager Mark Trinder created a look that was “super luxe, polished, modern and fresh”, with the low-slung Bow-Tail that was as reflective in the light as the skin.
If modernist beauty is the way forward, then let skin-finishing products be the essential item for the modern woman, who leaves no aspect of her look unconsidered, clean, polished skin and just a short, sharp hit of eyeliner in the sockets offers an elegant and refined finish.
“There is so much colour and texture in the collection, that I wanted the beauty look to merge seamlessly with the clothing and compliment the final look, the Amethyst Skin does this perfectly”
The St. Tropez range is available across the UK at select retailers including Boots Superdrug and salons nationwide.
