Grungy Eyes For SS09
With Spring fast approaching, it's time to have a closer look at the beauty looks which we think will be big news this year.
While the fashion trends for SS09 are set to be bright, bold and romantic, the main beauty looks are drawing on inspiration from the AW08 lines of dark romance and more importantly grunge.
Grungy eyes are set to be a big feature of 2009, so those smokey eyes that you perfected at Christmas, will be all the rage once again, paired together with masses of eyeliner and nude lips.
This beauty trend was massive for 2008, coupled alongside the dark romance fashion trend, but this year we'll be seeing a more toned down version grunge, both in fashion and beauty.
Romantic Odyssey is a fashion look to watch come early spring and this will look great alongside grungy make-up to achieve the ultimate contrast. Layering pale grey under and around the eyes will also instantly update the look perfectly.
Meanwhile the oil slick trend will also translate to make-up looks, as wet eyeliner and eye shadow will play a huge part in creating the grunge look this season.
To create the ultimate grunge look, first start off with a nude base taking care to cover your eyelids and lips; you want a completely clean canvas, so that your eyes will be the focus.
Next, focus on your eyes and how you want them to look, and make sure not to apply too much wet eye shadow, as it will smudge very easily.
The trick is to apply little amounts at a time with a brush and allowing it to dry, otherwise you'll have tell tale marks around your eyebrows.
Once you've got the right amount and consistency applied, focus on lining your lower lashes, sweeping a clear line under and following it until you reach the end of your top lash line.
Add liberal coats of volumnising mascara to extend your lashes and give your eyes a dramatic effect. To complete the look, sweep a very light dusting of baby pink blusher over the apples of your cheeks and finally apply a nude gloss to your lips.
