Go for Pop Art colours this season

Not content with the catwalk being awash with colour, the spring beauty looks are also forecasting pop art brights for our make-up bag too.

Last year was all about smokey eyes combined with glitter to create the ultimate party look, but this season we're moving away from all that and focusing on colour.

Bright blues, greens and purples mixed together will be the colours to work, creating a fresh look for both day and night. Whilst the peacock colour palette did make an appearance last year, this year it will be even bigger and the brighter the better.

Think electric blue from the 80s mixed with a mint green and you'll be on to the right track for a gorgeous two-tone effect.

Start by layering the green colour from the inner lid and sweep half way out. Next, carefully sweep the blue from where you stopped, taking care not to smudge it too much just yet.

Finally using your finger, carefully blend the two colours together, so there is no clear line where you have joined the two colours.

For a pop art day look, stick with sweet violets and cloudy blues mixed together. Sweep the purple colour over your eyelid, starting off with small amounts and gradually building it up.

Next, use the blue for underneath your lower lash line to give you a sweet contrast, finishing off with a thin layer of mascara and a peachy gloss on your lips to complete the look.

We're also going to be seeing a lot more unusual colours make an appearance this spring, with oranges and yellows becoming big news. This pretty much reflects the colours seen on the catwalks too, so it was inevitable that it would make an appearance in our beauty looks for this year.

This is extremely tricky to pull off, as with the wrong tones and shades it can make you look sickly and paler than you naturally are. Best reserved for night time, work a funky two-tone effect of mellow yellow and fierce orange.
