The average woman wastes £75 pounds a year on unused beauty products with some women spending ten times that for products that never make it out of the bottle.
That’s according to new research released today that shows that the average woman spends £15 on each beauty product she purchases and ends up with five unused items at the end of every year.
However, a fifth of women will regularly pay more than £20 per item, while 13% of women accumulate over ten products a year that never see the light of day.
And while achieving the body beautiful is important to many women, it’s the face that really counts with 40% saying it is the part they would invest the most in.
What’s more, half of all women surveyed by Crème de la Mer said they had, or would start using anti-aging products whilst still relatively young, between 25 and 35.
And with the survey showing our looks still have a huge impact on everything from our self esteem to our performance at work; it’s not hard to see why so many women spend so much on products.
Over two thirds of women believe that the confidence derived from their appearance affects their self esteem, while well over half believe people make their first impressions of them based purely on their appearance and specifically their face.
Others say their appearance affects their social life, their work life and even the number of friends they have.
So how can we make a worthwhile investment in our appearance without wasting precious money on products we will never use? And is it better to invest in quality rather than quantity?
