Research has found that the average woman can spend up to £27,000 throughout her adult life on her hair.
The price of beautiful hair is high! Hairdressers take a large share of that sum but money spent on shampoo, conditioner, hair - dryers, curlers and styling products also contribute to the huge amount spent throughout a womans lifetime.
Hair care company TRESemme conducted the research, they found that London and Cardiff were the areas with the highest amount of money spent on hair care. In London, where an average cut and blow-dry can cost up to £65, the price of gorgeous hair is £54,740. In Cardiff the figure is £48,552.
Bradford is the city where women spend the least on their hair throughout their life time, the figure being just £21,000. The difference between the figures in London and Bradford are phenomenal.
This research shows how much women feel that looking good on the outside is an important factor in their lives.
A spokesman for TRESemme said: "It's incredible how much money women spend on their hair, but also unsurprising as we know that many women aspire to achieve a salon-like finish.
"Hair is such an important aspect of our appearance and having stylish locks can really make you look and feel good about your self. Professional women will no doubt consider hair as a very important part of their image."
Time is another factor that women devote to the care of their hair. The average woman will devote an hour and 53 minutes every week to washing, blow drying and styling which means four days a year!
In London women unsurprisingly spend even longer - two hours and 15 minutes is spent each week on the care of their hair.
In contrast, men will spend just 39 minutes a week in front of the mirror. Trips to the barbers and tubs of gel build up a rate of £218 a year and £12,696 in their lifetime.
