Skinny celebrities is nothing new in Hollywood, not a day goes by without a picture of Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan or Nicole Richie looking scarily thin is splashed across the media but actress Anna Friel has revealed she thinks the problem is worse in the UK than in LA, Heatworld reports.
Anna, who has been enjoying success in America following her Pushing Daisies show, spoke about the problem at Monday's Elle Style Awards.
She said: "I actually find the pressure when I am back home here far greater than in LA. There are so many thin women here, much thinner than in America."
We do have our fair share of thin stars over here, Keira Knightly, for example, has been dogged with rumours of an eating disorder throughout her career and we might have lost her to LA now but Victoria Beckham's descent into extreme skinniness started over here. However we always associated this problem with celebrities over the pond, particularly considering LA's reputation for been extremely health conscious.
It's brave of Anna to speak out and we can't help but wonder if any more Brits will confess to feeling the pressure more over here.
