Stamp out smoking

Alcohol

Research has shown that a few glasses of red wine a week could actually give you extra protection against cancer compared with people who don't drink at all. If you do drink, swap your usual spirits or beer for red wine for a healthier choice.

However, drinking more than the 2-3 units that the government has guidelined can cause supression to your immune system.

Excess drinking can also cause havoc to your skin, the skin is robbed of vital nutrients and blood vessels will dilate on your face that could lead to unattractive red spider veins.

If you have over done it the night before, drink plenty of water to rehydrate your body.

Smoking

Smoking is the worst crime against beauty. From being a social smoker to being a heavy smoker, you are doing great damage to your skin. Even from just having the odd drag, your one drag has produced a trillion unstable molecules in your lungs that speed up the age process.

If you are a smoker and you want to defend your body from these chemicals, you need to have a balanced diet rich in vitamins A, B and C that will help the skin on the road to recovery. However, the best cure is to stop smoking altogether.

Sun

It is no hidden fact that the sun can do horrendous damage to your body. Too much time in the sun can lead to skin becoming prune like and adding years to your appearance. People who are addicted to a suntan and getting the eventual sunburn are putting their health in danger. The worst danger being skin cancer.

A little bit of sun is beneficial to the body as it is a source of vitamin D which boosts our immune system. If you are out in the sun always wear a sunblock with an SPF of 15+.
