As Christmas is nearly upon us it seems people are really desperate to look their best, as cosmetic surgery gift vouchers not only hit the top of many womenâs wish list this year but menâs as well.
The popular new trend for the gift vouchers proves a growing demand for cosmetic surgery in the UK. Available at a minimum of £50, the vouchers can be redeemed against any procedure, from botox to teeth whitening or a tummy tuck, perfect for the Christmas party season.
Many women cannot afford their desired procedure and are now waiting to ask their loved ones to treat them at Christmas. The procedure set to be most popular this Christmas is breast augmentation, enabling women to achieve a larger breast that appears completely natural, keeping in with the bodyâs frame.
In 2007 men spent £20,000 on gift vouchers for women with a 30% increase in 2008 bringing it to £26,000. And in 2007 women spent £5,000 on gift vouchers for men with a 60% increase in 2008 bringing it to £8,000.
Marie Jenkins, patient coordinator at Birkdale Clinic said: "It seems that jewellery and perfume are old news and simply no longer âcut itâ in the present stakes. We have had phone calls from men since September asking if we are selling the vouchers. Husbands and boyfriends donât want to get it wrong again this year, and are now a lot more supportive of their partnersâ needs to get the perfect body. However, we have also experienced a rush in men visiting the clinic this year and expect this to continue over Christmas."
