A classic look that will take you through season to season

As we get ready for the party season we have to think about everything that goes with the outfit, you have the shoes, the jewellery, the head piece and then the make-up, the thing that will change the  look of the outfit and can make it in to something truly spectacular. So, here is our run down of the looks you should be trying out this Christmas and New Year.

Red Statement Lips

Always a favourite with the stylish French woman, the red statement lip can look great at any time of the day, just opt for a sheer based for the day and a more velvet type in the evening. Ruby red works amazingly with the feline flick for a classic take on beauty, just ensure that you don't get too drunk as the red can smear and you end up looking like the Joker.

Up-do Hair

This year has definitely been the one for the up-do. Scraped back or loosely done its a manageable style and won't be falling into your face. Use a doughnut to shape the bun till you get the hang of doing them free hand. Go as big as you can, or as small as possible, both look stylish and on trend. Even a ponytail can look stylish, keep it straight and try out different hair accessories to add something different.

Party eyelashes

Eyelashes are no longer just being extended for a night out, we all want length and volume but when you go out over Christmas they need glitter, diamonds and feathers to add impact. Girls Aloud have added a party range to the selection of eyelashes they have designed, they are an easy, cheap way to add something new to the face. Head to Shu Uemara for the high end of this look, their false eyelashes scattered in diamonds will set you back £50 but they will certainly have the most impact on the dance floor.

Nail Art

Foils, glitter, art everything has been experimented and almost all things work. Nails are the easy and less obvious way to make a statement. It is considered no longer trendy to have just one colour nail varnish on your finger tips but a different one for each finger. We must advise that you put an undercoat on any nail varnish, so not to stain your nails, but especially with any glitter, as these are the worst to get off. Foil designs are great for the whole festive period as they last for up to four weeks, get something that will look suitable for every occasion and outfit.

Purple Statement Lips

This one is for the risk taker, not everybody will like this look and it takes a certain type of swagger to pull it off. Proenza Schouler, Antonio Berardi and Missoni were just a few of the designers to send the models down the catwalk with their lips stained in deep purple, upkeep is needed for this look and the rest of the face should be kept simple as you want all eyes drawn straight to the lips.
