New Year Eve is the perfect time to indulge in a bit of glamour and try something different with your hair.
But before you go for the big chop there are plenty of styles to try without going anywhere near a pair of scissors.
An up-do style can be tricky to do but with practice it can be much easier.
Anything from a French twist, a chignon to a 1940s flapper style will look fantastic this New Year.
Firstly, think about what hair style will suite your outfit, as a rule never let your hair style over power your dress, it should always complement.
For those of you with long hair itâs the perfect chance to try a classic chignon which highlights the neck, shoulders and cheekbones. Jennifer Lopez is very fond of the chignon and tends to go for a more tousled relaxed style.
The chignon style is beautifully sleek in the front and slightly fuller in the back. Start by smoothing the hair back into a pony tail before splitting it into two sections. Twist the two sections under and secure it with bobby pins.
For a J-Lo inspired sexy tousled look let a few strands of hair fall down by the side of the face or keep it smoothed back for a more sleek style.
A more casual look a lot of celebrities are asking their stylists for are soft flowing curls.
Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria both wear curls on the red carpet making flowing hair just as stylish as any up-do.
To achieve Jessica inspired curls hot rollers or a thick curling iron creates the best look.
For soft curls try not to use too many products as this will weigh them down and make them look too stiff, a quick spritz of hair spray should hold the style long after midnight.
