Models at Christian Dior's SS09 shows strutted down the catwalks with their hair smoothed into sophisticated buns and celebrities are getting in on the look with Christina Aguilera tying her hair in a bun for Wednesday's Grammy Nomination Concert.
Dior was not alone though, Vera Wang, Tibi and 3.1 Phillip Lim all used the hairstyle during fashion month so it looks like it will be the style for next season.
It's easy to recreate, can be worn in may different ways and fitting in with the current financial climate it won't cost much, as all that you need are a few hairpins and hairspray.
The style works better with slightly dirty hair as freshly washed is harder to keep in place.
You can work the folk look with a loose messy bun, with tendrils framing your face or go for a more glamorous look try a tidy twisted bun. Get the Hollywood look by teaming it with lashings of mascara and bright red lipstick.
Dior's models wore their buns at the very top of their head but in day to day life this style looks better tied low at the back of the head.
