Much like it's annoying facial relative, the red blemishes that appear on our bodies from time to time are caused by a build up of dirt and oil that gathers naturally on our skin.
After showering and pampering, try and keep fabrics off your shoulders and back as this will give the skin time to breath.
Body acne is most commonly found on the back, neck and shoulders but can appear anywhere on the body apart from the palms of your hands and soles of your feet.
It may well be caused by a similar thing, but shifting body acne can be more difficult than that on your face as the skin on your body is thicker with larger pores than the face, making it easier to clog up. As these areas are in contact with fabrics all day and night, the skin is in constant contact with the oil it produces.
Though it may seem like a lost cause, there are a few bits and bobs that may help to clear away those annoying, self conscious blemishes, leaving your skin clear and avoiding any further outbreaks in the future.
One of the most important things to avoid body blemishes is using a good cleanser to clear out those pores.
Make this an anti bacterial wash or foaming wash if possible as this will get deep into the skin to give a good clean. Avoid a soap with too many colourings/dyes and flavourings in it - Simple is a great product for maintaining healthy, clean skin and helping to clean up acne prone skin.
Finding a body clearing spray will also help to freshen up the skin and give it the breathing time that it needs.
The Murad Clarifying Body Spray has always received great reviews and while it may be £33, it's worth it to use sparingly, every other day to keep that skin clear - particularly over the summer months when we persperate a lot more and try and make the most of showing off a little flesh.
A handy hint for the evening: After showering and pampering, try and keep fabrics off your shoulders and back as this will give the skin time to breath. For night wear, stick to light weight material as this will allow the skin to breath in the night and will not clog up the pores as much if you do get too warm.
