Luella A/W 08's Goth Inspired Looks

This is the one night of the year where you can embrace using every make-up item in your bag and going crazy, without fear of looking stupid.

Ah rejoice, Halloween is here at last and now you have a chance to test out all those beauty trends, which you were too scared to try out before. To be honest, if you get it wrong who's going to know? They may even compliment you on your new look, so go on give it a go.

Here are some of our top tips for making Halloween beauty work for you...

Monochrome

Christina Aguilera worked this look to perfection at last month's VMA's, clearly showing how fashion forward she is. The trick to working white eyeliner is to apply black kohl first and then use the white liner on the inner rim of your eyes. This will open up your eyes and make them appear bigger and brighter. Seeing as it is Halloween, we think you should go all out and copy Christina's vampy eyes and fake eyelashes to a tee- you'll certainly look ghoulish!

Black Nails

No other colour is acceptable this Halloween, so dig out your coffin black polish and get painting. A host of famous faces have been spotted with black nails including Girls Aloud, Lily Allen and Vanessa Hudgens. If you really fancy getting into the Halloween spirit, then why not stencil some cobwebs onto your black nails too.

Smokey Eyes

Victoria Beckham is often seen with smokey eyes when she is off on a night out, and who knows she may be 'gothing' it up a bit this Halloween, if she takes her boys trick or treating. The key to creating this look is to line your eyes first with a kohl eye pencil and then layer it up with some black and grey eyeshadow.

Berry-Tastic

This look was already forecasted as a major trend a few weeks ago here at FemaleFirst, so hopefully you're already stocked up with plenty of berry make-up for Halloween. Daisy Lowe was spotted rocking this look a while ago and berry lips do look oh-so divine on pale skin. Seeing as black lipstick is maybe a step too far, even for Halloween, berry shades are the next best thing.

Rave Colour

We're talking as loud and as daring as you want to go this Halloween. Wash in and wash out dyes are great for Halloween, because obviously your not committed to a particularly outlandish colour. We're loving Nicola from Girls Aloud's hair right now, as her stunning cherry shade of red really suits her complexion. Getting a similar look will look great for tonight, but if you fancy keeping it then check out some home-hair dyes or pop along to a professional salon to get a colour boost.
