Though you may think that the looks are far to outrageous to be worn everyday, there are some important tips that can be picked up from watching designers such as Marc Jacobs, Prada, Burberry and all our other favourites, work their magic with an eyeliner.
Here are some little pointers to get you started, and remember, there is no rule as to how much or little you take away as inspiration - just knowing the style and adding it to your pallet and cosmetics bag is the first step.
Hair:
Similar to the autumn/winter shows, the ponytail is still very much in fashion right now. It is simple, effective and can help create or compliment a variety of different looks. The sleek pulled-back pony oozes power and professionalism and is the perfect hairstyle if you have an office job and high powered career. You can do sleek, high pony like Marc Jacobs or the textured look of Burberry, whatever works for you. Wear this with high-waist trousers, a court dress or pencil skirt and you'll have them eating out of the palm of your hand.
The beauty of the ponytail is that you can make it suit any look you like. If you're wanting a casual look then simply do a little back combing and sit the bobble at the nave of your neck - it not only gives a can't be bothered look, but is very much in keeping with the 70s era revival that is a strong trend in fashion at the moment.
Another trendy hair-style is the big fringe. This is something that rarely goes out of style and done well it can finish off most trends. Whether you're a girly girl, professional working woman or wanting to recapture a lost era, this is a look to consider.
Eyes:
As we approach summer you should start to think about changing your colour pallet to suit the supposed summer sun. Although the nude tones from Burberry were a big hit, think about bringing in pastel tones to suit your wardrobe and skin tone. If you're feeling a little more adventurous then a bright red, blue or orange would look great across the eyes and really catch people's attention. You want to make sure that this is complimented well with a sun kissed glow as it may drain from your natural skin complexion if used in an over-zealous manner. This again would suit the bright, floral fashion trend of play- and jumpsuits or even your up and coming summer holiday.
On a more relaxed note, some designers have been insisting on the neutral tones that always serve so well. If you delicate features and very much into the 'less is more' look then having the confidence to be fresh faced can be just as difficult as putting on the wall paint. Using light mineral browns and nudes across the eyes works well for a simple look and rather than using black mascara why not try brown or clear to give a little definition to the eyes without taking anything away from the innocent, natural look.
If you're looking for a stand-out look for a one off night out or special occassion, or simply just like experimenting with different looks, then the runway has also featured some decorative eye glitters and stickers that may just inspire you. Alexander Wang used polka dots at his show, but just a hint of glitter or a pretty design would probably work better. Find something to match your outfit and give it a go - you'll never know until you try it.
Lips:
According to the fashion show spies there are two looks that are making appearances on the catwalk: Rich and glossy. Rather than keeping to traditional nudes and reds, designers are looking at alternate colours to bring to their work. YSL used a deep purple in their designs to match their fabrics, something we too can do. It sounds like the oldest trick in the book, but don't be afraid to experience with browns, purples and oranges. They make your lips a talking point, can lure anyone to them and collate your trendy look.
Again, if you're a professional woman, then the deep tones are a must for giving off that high powered look. It can make you look classy and sophisticated - just how we all want to feel.
Remember: Gloss is very in this season, and so if you are using a matt lipstick try and finish it off with a clear gloss or find a brand such as Rimmel that have the double-ended wand for easy application and long lasting shine.
Skin:
Skin is always a difficult one to talk about, only you know what works well for you. You can however take comfort in knowing that the fresh faced Bambi look can suit even the palest of skin tones and not take anything away from you. If you have a bronzed look add colour to your eyes and lips, it makes those features stand out and can even make a tan pop.
If you are wanting that summer glow there is only one thing for it: Find a subtle blusher and stroke across the top of the cheek bone. It gives a sun-kissed look and allows you to still have the confidence to rock any look you're going for.
