It's part way through January and most of us have already given up on that New Year's resolution to join the gym- and go regularly! It's cold and wet outside and the idea of heading out to sweat and wheeze while surrounded by gorgeous skinny people really doesn't appeal to us.
Female First look at how you can get fit without setting foot in a gym.
Everything we do burns calories so simple activities that most of us to every day are a great way to make sure you get some exercise. Check out these calorie busting activities:
Walking the dog
Half an hour of brisk walking with your precious pooch will burn off around 125 calories. That's the equivalent to a bag of crisps or a chocolate biscuit. Not bad for a walk around the park. If you don't have a dog then borrow one- most people will be thankful someone is offering to do the work.
Dancing
Having a boogie for 30 minutes uses up 186 calories. That's the same as half an hour on a step machine- and twice as much fun! So hit the dancefloor and shimmy your way to a smaller bum. But don't forget drinking cocktails while throwing out some shapes will cancel out all your hard work.
Housework
No one really likes doing housework but when you think your burning calories at the same time it seems a whole lot more worthwhile. Just half an hour of fairly light chores will burn around 110 calories and a bit of vigorous hoovering will up that to over 150 calories. That's definitely a reason to whistle while you work.
Playing With Kids
Losing weight is childsplay- literally! Just half an hour of fun and games with the little ones could burn off around 150 calories plus you will be doing some valuable bonding with your kids in the process- everyone's a winner.
Sex
If you've ever wanted an excuse for having more sex then this is it. 30 mins of moderate hanky panky will shed around 60 calories. This increases the more effort you put in so let yourself go and watch the pounds fall off.
