David Koma Spring Summer 13: Get the hairstyle

David Koma’s collection this year hits the courts, taking strong inspiration from the dress and ladies of tennis, from the 20s to present day.

Koma takes the classic cuts of pleated tennis skirts, drops them to 1920s hip lines while the top remains body con with cut outs and inventive layering.

Extra energy is brought to the garments via a fresh colour palette and bold horizontal panels. Printed and embroidered patterns fall across the material like the shadow of the net across the court.

It is an active but extremely refined look designed to bring the grace and sass of the game to the most luxurious of settings.

The hair too is packed with energy but ghd sleekness and a bold horizontal part line bring a little more polish to the match.

THE HAIR

1. Apply ghd Style Smooth and Tame Spray to the lower section of hair. Use the ghd air to quickly blow dry hair smooth, training the roots back toward the crown of the head.

2. Horizontal section hair from the recession to 1cm above the ear, then run a ghd Oval Dressing Brush over the hair to create a smooth texture. Spray with enough ghd Style Final Fix Hairspray to create sheen and secure in a centre ponytail.

3. Take the top section of hair and add a generous amount of ghd Style Root Lift Spray for texture. Work texture in by combing back hair with the ghd Detangling Comb to encourage raised lines.

4. Join the top section to the tied ponytail by plaiting the sections into one braid, using two fingers to create the narrow top width, ensuring the braid is not too tight and not too loose. Plait to nape and tie temporarily.

5. Taking the remaining bottom section of hair, begin a French plait mid-way down and then tie at the nape.

6. Apply ghd Style Final Shine Spray to the pony, then use the ghd Gold Max styler to flatten, keeping ponytail in a narrow line.

7. Use ghd Style Final Fix Hairspray to keep flyaways around the temples and behind the ears down. Tweak flyaways back for a windswept, active look and apply another layer of ghd Style Final Fix Hairspray.
