We've all sported a variety of different dos this year, but the donut inspired ballet bun and the much-loved fishtail braid. Whether it's a casual or formal look, the fishtail is stylish, playful and unforgettable as hair styles go.

If you're a fan of the fishtail, but still need some tips for achieving the ultimate tussled look, then have a read of the FemaleFirst run through for making light work of this timeless, trendsetting look.

A simple trick for instantly making the braid easier to achieve is to bring it to the side.

So, to create the ultimate tousled side fishtail braid:

1. Start by backcombing the hair at the crown and root to add volume.

2. Brush through and bring all the hair to one side of the head. Fasten with an elastic at the nape of the neck.

3. Seperate the hair into two equal sections.

4. Take a small piece of hair from the outer side of one of the sections of hair and cross it over to the join the other section of hair.

5. Do the same for the other side, ensuring that the piece is from the outer side of the section to cross over.

6. Continue to do this, pulling the hair tight to keep it in place.

7. When the fishtail is complete to the bottom of the hair fasten with a bobble, elastic or ribbon and make sure that it is secure.

8. When the braid is secure, pull pieces of the hair away from the fishtail and around the face to help frame and add texture to the look.

9. Snip the elastic at the top of the braid to free into place and tussle as much as you like.

10. Finally rub some Charles Worthington's Front Row Forever Lasting Hairspray into your hands and smooth over the fishtail to add texture and set in place.

Happy experimenting!
