Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria and Katie Holmes have both been spotted sporting them recently, so are hair extensions actually back in fashion?

Maybe they never stopped being in fashion, but there's no doubt that hair extensions have been given a chavvy label over the past few years, largely thanks to the WAG brigade who sported them with pride.

Now, while they could maybe afford to have them done every few weeks, the girls who copied their look for a fraction of the price, often managed to make them look tacky and cheap.

Perhaps it was the dodgy glue sticking out of the fake hair, or the masses of hair styled into a short bob which gave the game away, but either way they were no longer the height of sophistication.

Jennifer Aniston sported hair extensions throughout the sixth series of Friends and even she managed to look horrendous, in all honesty she reminded us of a big 'ole lion.

For a while hair extensions were pretty much banished from celebdom, until now that is and until the stylish Ms. Holmes chose to debut a new look a few weeks ago.

All of a sudden, we felt a huge affection for hair extensions once more, and no longer were they chavtastic, but chic, stylish and gorgeous, thanks to the stunning actress.

Eva Longoria soon followed suit, adding caramel and mahogany tones to her short crop and again, looked every inch the Hollywood mega starlet.

Could it be that hair extensions have shaken off their chavtastic tag, and become cool once again? Well, if they're done properly, then they will cost a fortune, and in this economic climate at the moment, that's not very likely for the average lady.

However, since some genius has created the clip in versions for a fraction of the price, we have to say we're leaning towards that option instead.

What do you think though- are hair extensions chavvy or chic?
