At 56 Sharon Osbourne is happy to admit having cosmetic surgery

Older women are becoming more concerned with keeping their looks as the number of over 50s planning cosmetic surgery holidays has doubled.

Euromedica Cosmetic Surgery, who specialise in accompanied cosmetic surgery trips to Poland, has revealed that nearly 60 per cent of its patients are over 50, up 30 per cent from last year despite the current financial climate, with facelifts and tummy tucks among the most popular ops.

Alina Deeble, founder of Euromedica Cosmetic Surgery, says: "Older women have many reasons for wanting to look younger and are prepared to spend cash they've been putting aside to get the face and the body they want.

"The number of cosmetic procedures for our 45-65 age group has doubled in the last 12 months, and I think it’s a trend that’s set to continue.

"Often these women have more disposable income and are motivated by a need to look the best they can, whatever their circumstances: it may be they are already in a senior position at work, opting for a second career or, more often than not, about to embark on a second marriage."

We like to think that we'll be happy growing old gracefully but in 40 years time we could well be sat front row on one of these trips too, after all wrinkles are no-one's friend!
