Jordan alone could be responsible for the increase in surgery this year

We'd all love a pout like Angelina Jolie or Cheryl Cole's nose but unfortunately we don't have their bank balance to achieve this. However that doesn't seem to be stopping credit-crunch hit Brits.

Cosmetic surgery in Britain is rising, The Mirror reports. It seems that despite the recession we are still trying to achieve the perfect body or face by any means necessary.

Last year 34,000 procedures were performed, an increase of five per cent on 2007's figures. Boob jobs alone rose by 30%.

Ninety-one per cent of all surgery was on women but men were not averse to the odd nip tuck. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons showed the amount of men having their 'man boobs' removed rose by 44% and male brow lifted were up 60%.

BAAPS president Nigel Mercer told The Mirror: "Despite the financial downturn, the public’s interest in aesthetic surgery remains strong."
