Chanel AW09

Chanel AW09

We loved the Chanel show in Paris last week, it really was one of Lagerfeld's finest accomplishments and it gave us a fab new beauty trend to lust over too.

They showcased glittery eyes, simple make-up and loosely tussled hair to perfection, at last giving us a trend we can actually copy, especially after McQueen's terrifying show.

To get this look, you'll need a steady hand, some false eyelashes and masses of glitter. Just like the fashion trends for the summer, sequins and sparkles are carrying through, and if Chanel's show is anything to go by, it will last until the end of the year.

Firstly, make sure your skin is nice and clean before you begin, because this look is about perfection. Use a foundation which will renew and pump new life into your skin, we love Rimmel's Recover foundation, which helps your look good even if you've been partying all night!

Next, concentrate on your cheeks and lips, which Chanel kept very simple on their show, so we recommend using a rose based blush, like Rimmel's Mono Blush for your cheeks and a 'barely there' lippy for your lips. We're big fans of Rimmel's lasting finish nudes lipstick.

Now, it's time to focus on your eyes as this will be the key focal point for pulling off the Chanel look. Heavily lidded eyes, combined with white eye shadow and false lashes are essential to getting this trend right.

Use Rimmel's Pencil eyeliner to begin with, lining your upper lids with a thick line of Kohl, gradually taking the line below your lower lashes to create a chunky line.

Next, line your inner lid with white eyeliner to give you a dewy eye effect. Now it's time for the false lashes and glitter goodies to come out.

Chanel looked like they had glued specially designed silver eye pieces to their models, but you can achieve a similar effect with glitter.

Simply use an eye shadow brush to paint eyelash flicks onto the corner of your eyes. We love Rimmel's colour mousse eye shadow in 'snow queen'. The wet look formula is easy to style and allows you to make a few mistakes before getting it right!
