Budget beauty products seem to be everywhere at the moment and with the credit crunch it couldn't come at a better time.
Mascara for a pound and lip gloss for under a fiver seems perfect but how well does it actually work? Are cheaper products just as good as their more expensive counterparts or is some stuff just worth splashing out on?
Female First hit the make up counters to find out how products up and down the price scale compare.
Today we look at blusher.
The cheapest blusher comes from Elf. Their Radiance Blusher, £1.50, is great value for money. Long lasting and a lovely colour with a hint of shimmer but not too much. It passed the night out test, staying put through lots of dancing! It's just let down by it's packaging which is quite hard to open and the make up breaks quite easily.
W7 Cream to Powder Blusher, £3.95, is great for staying put, one application will see you through a night out. However it's cream to powder claim didn't exactly follow through as it does stay in cream form. Good range of colours though.
Fake Bake Legal Sunburn Blusher, £5.90 at feelunique.com, gives a fantastic fresh colour. Just the tiniest bit is needed though or the colour is a little too much, meaning the blusher will last ages.
At the top end of the scale Prestige Fresh Glow Blush, £7.99, is a perfect blend of blusher and bronzer. It lasts all day and has a great smooth, lightweight finish. We absolutely loved it.
So great products at the top end of the price scale today but Prestige just edges it with its blend of blush and bronzer. This one is worth saving your pennies for girls!
Come back on Monday to see how lipglosses fare.
