We are well and truly into spring, and that means one thing: summer holidays! It may still seem a while away but it's better to start your holiday diet sooner rather than later. If the thought of bearing all in a bikini terrifies you, do not fear. These tips on getting into shape will have you body confident in no time!
Firstly, those comfort foods need to go! Get rid of any leftover Easter eggs, crisps, ice cream, and biscuits from your cupboard. Have your biggest meal in the morning, (e.g. cereal and poached eggs on toast), as you burn the most calories throughout the day. For lunch, tuck into a healthy sandwich, and have a light meal for dinner, such as salad or soup. If you’re hungry in between meals, snack on fruit or nuts.
A bloated tummy is not a great look for anyone, but especially not whilst wearing a bikini! Cut out processed white bread and pasta, which can make you feel uncomfortable, and instead swap them for the wholemeal variety, which contain lots of fibre and will help to fill you up for longer. Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, and sprouts are known to cause bloating, so don’t eat too much of these. Finally, don’t have fizzy drinks, as they are full of gas which ends up in your stomach!
You’re not going to tone up sitting on the sofa, so you need to exercise as well as eat healthily. This doesn’t mean spending hours at the gym. If you usually drive to work, try walking or cycling there. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Go for a brisk walk on your lunch break.
You’ve heard it before, but it’s true: drinking water is good for you. Water cleanses your system and flushes out any nasty toxins, and we often mistake thirstiness for hunger, so you could end up eating less. Your skin will glow, too! Try to drink two litres a day, and you will see the benefits.
So there you go: it’s that simple. Keep to a healthy diet and varied exercise, and you’ll be feeling fab on the beach this summer.
