There seems to a part of our body that we're never happy with, whether it's our arms, legs or stomach. New research has however revealed that a staggering eight out of 10 Brits are unhappy with their hair.
They even believe that it damages their love life and career.
Now, Blake Lively is surely one person who has never thought this - she has hair to die for.
Shockingly, two thirds of people are worrying that their hair will reced or get thinner in the future.
Research, from Nanogen, shows that hair loss isn’t just a male concern, in fact more women than men worry about their hair thinning as they get older. But isn't this just part of life?
More than half of Brits say that their hair concrns knock their confidence and even 10 per cent admitted to cancelling plans because of it. My suggestion for this is to opt for a ballerina bun. Buy a donut from Claire's Accessories and you'll never have to worry about a bad hair day again.
Chartered psychologist Dr Jayne McCartney comments on the correlations between hair and confidence: “Our hair plays a major part in our appearance. Thinning hair can be psychologically devastating for both sexes, but for women especially the loss of hair can have long lasting and profound effects. Our hair is one of the first aspects that people will see and comment on, so they can be extremely self-conscious about it thinning.”
Our major concerns are hair thickness, with 40 per cent of us are concerned our hair is too thin, greasy hair and hair breakages.
The impact of thinner hair isn’t just personal, it’s professional too. Many of us feel that thinner hair would damage our careers in areas such as salary and promotion prospects.
Dr McCartney continues: “The research also shows a lack of understanding with hair loss; only 14 per cent of women believe their hair will thin more after childbirth when actually up to a staggering 90 per cent suffer with thinning hair. Therefore everyone should be well educated and knowledgeable in products that can reduce hair loss”.
