Keep your nails nude this season

Keep your nails nude this season

This season’s fashion trend for subdued nude colours has drifted over to the beauty world. There were fresh faces on the models at Calvin Klein and Hermes’ spring/summer shows, and now nude nails are all the rage.

Jennifer Lopez, Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and Linda Evangelista are all celebs who have rocked the au natural look on their nails, either going completely bare or using a very pale pink or nude polish.

This look is best on short, perfectly filed square-shaped nails. They should be in great condition, so use a hand and nail moisturiser to keep them looking tip-top. Vaseline Intensive Care Hand & Nail Lotion is good value, and will leave your hands silky smooth too.

If you're ditching the nail polish together, use a buffer to give them a healthy shine without any hassle. Buffing will also smooth out any ridges and pits on the surface of the nail. But be careful and make sure you don't buff them too often, as it can damage nails and leave them weak. Once every few weeks should be enough.

For those of you who want a little bit of colour, there are lots of natural nail polish shades on the high street. Only use one coat, and don't forget to use a top coat to stop any nasty chips and cracks - Jennifer Lopez would not be impressed!

Now you have no excuse not to be sporting cutting-edge nails: ditch the dark, vampy reds and purples in your make-up bag and freshen up for summer.
