What do we wear make up for? To look nice? To cover blemishes? A lot of us probably use it to look younger however did you know wearing the wrong make up can add as much as 10 years on your age.
Black mascara is forms a staple piece of all girls make up bags but actually it can add years on you. This season models at Chloe wore no mascara and the result was a fresh faced, youthful look. Black mascara on lower lashes can also give the illusion of dark circles under the eyes, not a good look.
A brown or clear mascara can be a better choice when it comes to turning back the clock. Curl lashes to give a wide eyed, younger appearance.
Natural eyeshadows like beige, nude or mocha might seem like the perfect, pared down, make up for the daytime but the similarity between your skin colour and these brown hues can drain colour from your face. They can draw attention to fine lines and wrinkles, making you appear older.
Instead try light shades like pinks and purples for a fresher look and if you still keep the tone light they won't be too much for the office.
Big eyebrows might be big news on the catwalk at the moment but we can't all get away with the look.Your brow hairs absorb the light so if they are too big they car create dark circles, a key sign of ageing.
Arched brows, but not too extreme, give a younger appearance. Just pluck away a few brows from underneath to create an arch and open up your eyes. It's important not to go too thin though or this will have a mutton-dressed-as-lamb appearance. If you're not confident in your plucking skills though it's probably a lot safer to go to a professional!
So anti-ageing isn't just about creams and lotions, the secrets are in your eyebrows and eyeshadow colours too!
