Redheads often get forgotten when it comes to beauty tips, neglected in favour of their blonde and brunette sisters. If red hair is good enough for one of our favourite model, Lily Cole, and one fifth of Britain's best girl groups - Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts of course - then we think its about time we paid homage to all things red, be it strawberry blonde, auburn, copper or just simple ginger.
Redheads are often fair skinned and therefore find it hard to find a suitable foundation shade. Nicola was so frustrated with the struggle to find a shade of make up light enough for her that she created her own range of make-up for redheads, Dainty Doll with Jelly Pong Pong. This should be the first port of call for you and you're bound to find the perfect foundation. Choose a neutral colour, not to dark and not too pink, to ensure you get the perfect glow.
Forget about giving yourself a bronzed glow, you will look so much better embracing your pale complexion and complimenting it with a pink flush. So swap your bronzer for a light pink blusher and highlight your cheek bones, dusting it over the apples of your cheeks, starting from near your ear, brushing inwards. This technique stops the blusher leaving marks on the cheeks.
Nicola Brookes, Spa Secrets Guru says: "Mineral make up is flying off the shelves in spas and is perfect for any red heads who are looking for a natural alternative or who have sensitive skin. It also doesn’t contain any nasties that can irritate sensitive skin or clog up your pores. Loose mineral powder foundations are also ideal for the lighter skin tone that many red heads have as they can be blended on the skin for a sheer, natural, flawless and radiant complexion."
Redheads are often told to go for natural colours when it comes to eye shadows but this doesn't have to be boring. A slick of gold along your lash line or in the inner corners can make your eyes stand out. When it comes to colours its tempting to play it safe with green but if you want something different try a light lilac shade. Line your eyes with a black liquid eyeliner, flicking out at the corners for a sexy feline look. Swap your black mascara for a brown as this is lash harsh against your hair colour.Redheads look best with a natural lip colour and a hint of shine but if you are feeling really brave try going for a bright red lipstick, the darker the shade the better it will look but you might have to do a bit of trial and error to find a shade that works with and not against your hair shade.
So there you have it, give it a few days and the redheads will all be strutting round with Lily Cole-esque beauty!
