This Year FemaleFirst will...
Take off all our makeup before we go to bed.
Our Mums have been saying this to us for years, and although we do try to stick to it, after a night on the town the last thing we want to do is spend ages scrubbing our faces. But this really does make a difference and stops you waking up to a face full of spots, so keep some wipes near your bed if you're feeling lazy!
Drink at least eight glasses of water a day
Drinking water can be boring, but it keeps our skins looking youth full and glowing. Definitely worth it!
Eat lots of fruit and veg instead of crisps and chocolate
We say this every year, but this time we mean it! Junk food will be a thing of the past, and instead we'll be snacking on an apple.
Ditch all makeup that has been used for over a year
De-cluttering our makeup bags can be very therapeutic, as you're throwing away the old rubbish in your life!Keeping makeup for this long means it's starting to go off and could be giving you spots. And of course, out with the old means in with the new, so treat yourself to some new makeup!
Exercise at least three times a week
Exercising is essential for not only looking goo, but feeling good as well. Going for a run or to the gym the day of a big night out means you'll be releasing endorphins, a feel good chemical and everyone will be drifting towards you!Excellent!
Exfoliate regularly, to get our skin looking amazing
Exfoliating all those dead skin cells away keeps your skin smooth and lump free. Exfoliate your face once a week and your body three times a week.
Always use a heat protector spray before straightening hair
FemaleFirst is the first to admit that we don't always remember to spray our hair with a defence spray before we straighten, but this is vital to protect our locks. If you don't remember it means you're damaging your hair and the ends will all be dead. This means the hairdresser will have to chop them all off at your next appointment! We'll definitely be remembering!
Find the perfect shade of lipstick
Finding the perfect shade of lipstick is a serious mission. If you get that perfect shade it can make you look good even without wearing any other makeup. Ladies with thin lips should stick to paler lip colours, which will make your pout look fuller. Those of you blessed with Angelina style lips should show them off in bright colours!
Always keep nails and toenails painted
There is nothing worse than seeing chipped unkept nails. What a turn-off! Once varnish starts to chip, you need to whip it all off, don't put another layer over the top. Re hydrate your cuticles by rubbing in some cuticle oil.
1Get rid of our heavy fake tan and stick to a gradual one.
It might be hard, but FemaleFirst has decided to wean ourselves off the fake tan, there is nothing attractive about a girl looking like an oompa loompa! Instead we're going to stick to the gradual tans, that not only keep you moisturised, but give a natural glow. Much sexier!
Always blend our makeup
Foundation should match your skin tone, so there should be no tell-tale lines! Apply it in natural light, blend with a brush on the forehead, nose, chin, cheeks, jaw and neck, then dab on concealer and dust with loose powder.
Not pick or squeeze our spots.
Squeezing can push bacteria deeper into the skin and spread infection. Instead use tea tree oil which has a quick-heal, spot-busting solution.
Moisturise every night
When you sleep, your skin repairs any damage during the day. Use a night moisturiser, as it has a higher concentration of ingredients than a day cream. This will boost cell renewal and replace lost moisture.
Get our hair trimmed every six weeks
This is essential for making sure you're hair keeps growing, as your getting rid of all the dead ends.
Try a new look
Trying something new whether it's a new hair colour or a new eye shadow shade!
