Smokey eyes will never go out of fashion, and this look will be hot once again in 2009. So keep those dark eye shadows, but give it a fresh twist for 2009 by adding a purple colour. Bobbie Brown has been promoting a violet eyeliner to create a soft, smokey eye that compliments every skin tone.
Blusher will make sure you're looking fresh, so stock up! Spring 2009 makeup brings soft peaches, roses, and pastel plums. The textures are sheer and lightweight, to look natural.
Shimmer creams are big news in 2009, giving your skin a light but dewy look. So go light on the foundation, but you can brighten up your winter skin with the shimmer creams.
Lipstick is back in a this year. Nude and pale lip colours from the 1960's are the inspiration for lipsticks from Christian Dior and Chanel. If you have a colour you love from 2008 and can't bare to part with it don't worry, simply mix it with a clear lip balm to lighten the texture and continue wearing it into the new year.
With nail varnish, there is only one colour we'll be wearing next year, navy blue! There has been lots of buzz in the fashion world lately about Chanel Blue Satin Nail Polish, and now itâs sold out everywhere. The shiny deep navy shade was originally debuted on the models at the Chanel Spring Runway show, and looks set to be huge next year.

Ladies, it's time to get ready of one beauty staple and say hello to another, as we ditch our mascaras and embrace false lashes! Shown on practically every runway at New York Fashion Week, false lashes create a much more dramatic effect, and with so many variations on the high street, there is no excuse to not be winking with a false lash adorned eye!
Lip gloss is still hot for 2009, but only to add shine. Glitter, sparkles, and heavy pigment is no longer in style. Sorry girls, but stick to pale glosses for the new year.
False nails are officially dead! Worn only by WAGs, short brightly painted nails are the way forward.
Black, liquid eyeliner needs throwing ladies! Replace with a softer, pencil liner to create a more smokey look, or if you're feeling brave, go for the violet option!
Bronzer will take a backseat this season, as the emphasis is on a more natural look. Fashion week saw bronzer virtually unused, with concealer and a light foundation been all the models wore.
