We're three weeks in now to the delights of living in the land of the rich and privileged, and we have to say so far it's been a bit of a disappointment, considering the original Beverly Hills 90210 was so popular.
It's half as interesting, half as funny and apparently half the size of the original cast too. The new kids on the block are scarily skinny size zeros, who look as though they could do with feeding up, rather than indulging in marathon gym sessions.
Apparently reports from US Weekly have suggested that producers of the show are considering taking action against some of the shows young stars, because they have become so alarmingly thin.
A source said at the time: "They want the girls to gain weight. They are trying too hard to be skinny, and it's started to wear on them. It's just not healthy."
Other sources have reportedly said that they have never see the girls eat, and when you see the results on TV, it's not too hard to imagine this as being true.
However, the girls have denied this and offered the suggestion that people don't see them, because they eat in each others trailers.
Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes are apparently the two which are most concerning to the producers, as they are said to have lost loads of weight since joining the show.
The original stars of 90210 look positively chubby next to the new skinny minnies of today, although it was rumoured that back in the early 90s, Tori Spelling had an eating disorder, while appearing in the TV show; this was never confirmed, however.
Could any of the new stars be experiencing some Hollywood pressure to stay thin, or face fading into obscurity?
It seems to be an unwritten rule that to make it in LA, you have to be thin. And not just thin by UK standards, we mean thin by U.S. standards, and that is very very skinny indeed.
So are they setting a bad example to young girls? Well, it's not like their thinness is promoted on the show, it just seems to be taken as gospel that they and their characters eat like pigs and still remain skinny.
If there was a story running about them trying to lose weight, then perhaps there would be more of a public outcry regarding the young stars, but as it is, this sort of speculation will just serve, we suspect as a ratings ploy.
Tuning in to see just how skinny they really are may be a form of entertainment for some, but there's a reason shows like this aren't made in the UK, apart from the obvious weather flaw that is, and that's because our young stars couldn't cope with that kind of scrutiny.
