Anne Hathaway at The Oscars

Anne Hathaway at The Oscars

Anne Hathaway may have walked away empty handed from Sunday night's Oscar ceremony, but she won the beauty gong in our eyes.

The actress has adopted a Golden era of Hollywood look of late, and has always championed her pale skin, refusing to wear fake tan, which makes her the ideal choice for a beauty icon.

We loved her look at The Academy Awards, teaming her stunning oyster coloured mermaid gown with glowing skin, simple accessories and a elegant up-do.

For you to recreate Anne's Oscar look, it's all about getting a flawless complexion, and making your lips the main focal point.

Her brown eyes always stand out, but she rarely opts for dramatic eye make-up, preferring instead to stick to stick to a nude base.

Anne's lips however always look bee stung and beautiful, usually coated in a dab of red lipstick, rather than sticky gloss.

Considering this is the girl who made her new in Disney flick, The Princess Diaries her look now is so simple and chic, she's a world away from that geeky teenager style she became famous for.

So, to get the look you'll need to invest in a light reflecting foundation, which blends into your skin naturally and doesn't give you that 'caked on' feel. Try Revlon's new Colorstay foundation softflex in buff, £11.74.

Next apply a light dusting of powder to your forehead, nose and chin to ensure any excess oil is hidden. We like MeMeMe's Flawless Face Powder in 1, £3.66.

To get Anne's dewy glow, a cream based blush is best as it won't look 'too applied' and will blend in a lot better, giving you a natural glow without even looking like you've tried. We love Maybelline's dream mousse in Dolly Pink, £5.86.

Coat your eyes in thickening mascara to get the false lash effect, but take care not to overdo it otherwise you'll look like a drag queen. Give Max Factor's Mascara 2000 Calorie in Black, £7.82 a go.

Finally apply some red lipstick to your lips, taking care not to over apply or it will become too harsh against your skin. Opt for a matte based lippy as opposed to a gloss, it gives a more Oscar worthy look in our opinion. Try L'Oreal's Colour Riche in Praline Beige 102, £7.82.
