The party season is traditionally a sparkly affair with glitter and sequins taking over all aspects of fashion and beauty. Glitter is a tricky make up look to master though, one misplaced sparkle and you can end up looking like a 5 year old.
Keeping glitter to a minimum is the way to achieve a classy Christmas look. For anyone over the age of 16, glitter hairspray is a no-no, stick to either eyes or lips.
A glitter lipgloss is the way to achieve a sparkly pout, but you want to be thinking more shimmer than glitter. The smaller the glitter particles the better. Go for a light pink shade or deep red, anything else will look too Barbie like.
If you're going for glitter on the eyes a slick of liquid glitter eyeliner along the upper lashes will do the job. If you are wearing black a bright colour such as green or purple will look fantastic. For purple or blue outfits gold will add a nice contrast. Team it with either black or matching eyeshadow, but stay away from glittery mascara, it looks too tacky.
You could instead go for an all over sparkly eyeshadow. Choose a dust with really fine particles and go for dark colours like grey or purple. Glittery eyeshadow should be teamed with plain black eyeliner, any more glitter is overkill.
Most blushers and bronzers come with fine glitter particles but if you have already loaded up your lips or eyes with sparkle then its best to avoid this anywhere else.
Keep one feature the focal point when it comes to glitter, you don't want to look like you've let a four year old do your make up!
