If you're looking for ways to brighten up your makeup this coming season then take a look at these trends and remember to have fun while experimenting. Make up doesn't have to be complicated or difficult to stand out- keep it simple and stylish and you'll still be making a statement with these looks all season long...

If you're one for keeping colour in your a/w beauty routine then be inspired by the season and inject some of those stunning gold, orange and light brown hues into you eye shadow palette. These are great for getting a glow into your look without it looking too overpowering. It works as a great day look, or can be glammed up with a bit of glitter for the evening. It brightens up your complexion and matches your warrobe all the while keeping your make up looking simple and understated.
One of the key looks for a/w is smokey eyes. This is the perfect look for a night out as it is sultry, sexy and one of the best in statement looks. Find yourself some shimmering shades and plenty of blend-in kohl eyeliners and create a deep, dark, bold look that will have every man's attention on your beauties.
Eyeliner and Mascara should come out to play in the a/w months without fear of running in the heat of a holiday or running around a badly air-conditioned office. Kohl eyeliners, in brown, black and blue are still very much an autumn make up trend and look brilliant for just adding some definition around the eye without having to put on a full face of make up.

Depending if you're making your eyes your statement feature or not, mascara is an important make up that can make or break a look. I recommend using a day-to-night mascara as this will suit all your make up needs. When going for the casual day look, apply the mascara in a zig zag formation from the root of the lash to the tip, this will avoid spidering. Avoid pumping the mascara brush to as this will clump on the brush. All you need is long, clean brush strokes.

If you're going for statement eyes one of the best ways for you to do this is to use liquid eyeliner. Use this well and you can achieve some stunning lines that make your eyes stand out from the crowd. A popular look for a/w are cats eyes, and a good liquid eyeliner can help you achieve this. By sweeping the eyeliner over the lid of the eye and partly underneath the eye too, bringing together at a point at the corner of the eye for extra definition.
From Smashbox for QVC £30
When winter hits us full force, it can be difficult to get out of bed to spend time in front of the mirror in the morning. When it comes to adding colour to the eyes, a quick trick is to use your bronzer on the eye lid. This not only adds colour and glow to the eye but gives a continuity of colour to the face by using the same shade on the cheeks and eyes.
Thin, over plucked eyebrows are a fashion 101. The penciled-in eyebrow is a thing of the past, making room for the fuller, shaped eyebrow that helps to natually frame the eye. For extra tone and shape find an pencil that is the same shade as the hair and fill in the body of the brow. This will add tone and help to neaten the brow as well as making them be the ultimate in statement looks.
Handy hints: If you're going for gold, don't use any black eyeliner around the eye. This will take away from the glow of the look and will simply look like a contrasting bold outline. This look should appear natural and effortless.
AND...the timeless trick of either or could not be more appropriate this coming season. Of course, we're talking about eyes or lips. The statement look should be for either or, but never both at the same time. This runs the risk of looking like stage makeup and will only leave you feeling far too over-done on a night out.
