We love a major red carpet event if not for the drama but for the absolutely breathtaking gowns we get to see flaunted by our favourite celebrities. This year’s 94th Academy Awards show was no different when it came to fashion, and these are the stars that caught our eye the most…
Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong’o looked like an Oscar statuette in her stunning gold Prada gown with long sleeves, an open back and flapper-style fringing. Teamed with simple silver studs from De Beers and her hair piled into a braided up-do, she was the picture of Oscars elegance.
Dakota Johnson
Feathers and sequins are so in right now and Dakota Johnson is the epitome of 20s glamour in her pink feathered Gucci frock. It’s sheer chiffon with a plunging neckline, giving it a kind of powder room dressing gown feel.

Julia Fox
We got serious Goth/Matrix vibes from Julia Fox’s jaw-dropping black leather gown by Han Kjobenhavn, which she teamed with elbow length gloves, her signature bold eye make-up and clutch bag made of human hair. Perhaps the most unique part of her look was a halter-neck in the shape of a skeletal hand. Creepy but stunning.
Billie Eilish
Dramatic frills was a major theme on this year’s Oscars red carpet and Billie Eilish took the look to the extreme with her off-the-shoulder black Gucci number. Apparently Billie still likes that oversized look, and frankly we just love the insanity of her outfit.
Anya Taylor-Joy
The Last Night in Soho star raised the room temperature significantly with her Academy Awards look. She donned a sheer black Dior corset dress which showed off her lithe figure, and she added a rather funereal fishnet veil over her red lipstick and dramatic dark eyes.
Kim Kardashian
We can’t put our finger on what’s so stunning about Kim’s sky blue clinging Balenciaga dress; it kind of makes her look like a sexy alien what with the gloves being attached to the dress, her impossible figure and the sci-fi sunglasses. Still, even if you’re a hater, you can’t deny it’s an eye-catching look.

Jada Pinkett-Smith
Scrunched taffeta is such a red carpet favourite this year, what with Billie Eilish’s post awards outfit change and Paris Jackson’s bronze number, but Jada did it best with her sea green Jean Paul Gaultier number which had a voluminous train, a high neckline and long sleeves. A little bit creature of the black lagoon but still somehow uber elegant.
Is it just me or has red carpet fashion gone super weird? I'm here for it! If I could get away with Julia Fox's spooky look, I'd damn well wear it everyday. Meanwhile, if Anya Taylor-Joy is wearing a fishnet veil, that means funereal goth must be in. Now I want to go shopping.
