Dolce & Gabbana Withdraw Offensive Ad.... Italian fashion duo Dolce & Gabbana have withdrawn a controversial advertisement showing a man holding down a woman by her wrists, after critics claimed it condoned domestic violence.
The risque ad showed a topless male holding down a female model by her wrists while being watched by other men.
Human rights campaigners Amnesty International were one of many groups who criticised the ad, saying it risked "excusing violence against women".
In a statement by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, they said, "We have decided to cancel the advertising image that has caused such repercussions within human interest groups and individuals.
"It was never our intention to offend anyone or promote violence against women."
The withdrawal follows moves by the Spanish government to ban the image.
